Palestinians plan mass protests on May 14, decrying the opening of the American embassy in Jerusalem.

Senior PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) official Ahmad Majdalani said on Tuesday that May 14, the day the US is expected to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which coincides with Israel’s 70th year of independence celebrations, will be “a day of rage”.

According to the Voice of Palestine, the official Palestinian Authority radio station, Ahmad Majdalani said, “The fourteenth of this month will be a huge, popular day of rage everywhere … Our people will express their rejection of relocating the embassy to occupied Jerusalem”.

President Donald Trump and his vice president, Mike Pence, will not attend the opening of the new US embassy in Jerusalem next week. Rumors abound that the reason for this decision is for safety reasons, as the likelihood of military confrontation in the area around this time is high.
