War is a racket that kills and wounds children so unnecessarily. It is a racket in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and control over the grand chessboard of earth’s real estate, while the apparently unimportant losses are measured in lives.
Children in conflict zones are suffering at a shocking scale as they become front line targets; used as human shields, killed, maimed and recruited to fight.
Rape, forced marriage, abduction and enslavement of children have become standard tactics in conflicts from Iraq, Syria and Yemen, to Nigeria, South Sudan and Myanmar. In some contexts, children abducted by armed groups experience abuse once again upon release when they are held by security forces.
Millions more children are paying an indirect price for conflicts, suffering from malnutrition, disease and trauma as basic services, including access to food, water, sanitation and health become unavailable.
In recent years and especially in 2017, children have been deliberately targeted in conflict zones to make them part of the conflict.
Wars are, in most cases, created on purpose by a certain government or intelligence agency to further a certain agenda, for which the public is provided an alternative, fabricated reason for engagement to justify their tax money being used. In the 20th and 21st Centuries, the CIA is probably the biggest culprit of the atrocities we have seen occur around the globe, all for the advancement of corporate America.
